“…the music director of Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra is also exploring less familiar Handel with relish and stylistic insight. He programmed the Ode for St Cecilia’s Day, prefacing it with excerpts from a Handel oratorio, Cecilia, volgi un sguardo. To open the evening, McGegan resurrected a Te Deum and Jubilate in D, composed by Purcell in 1695, only a century after Cecilia was made patron saint of music.”
